The Rams Values & Aims

Sports provide a great environment for young children to learn a variety of useful life lessons. At the Seaton Ramblers Football Club, we provide a safe, inclusive, and motivational environment where young people can feel as though they are part of a team.

We understand that for many children, starting at or moving to a new team or environment can be daunting. Due to this, the establishment of meaningful friendships is considered to be of high importance.

We work on developing skills for our young players that result in:

  • Improving social skills

  • Enhancing their health & fitness skills

  • Working with others

  • Caring for others

  • Communication skills

  • Enhancing their football career

The Seaton Ramblers Football Club provides four different junior teams. Under 8's, U10's, U12's, & U17.5's. These teams compete in the South Australian National Football League Juniors, also known as the SANFL Juniors.

At the Seaton Ramblers Football Club, our motto is “Believe & Achieve”. This is a motto we encourage players to apply in all aspects of their lives, not just on the footy field. We believe that anyone can achieve anything they set their mind to and are committed to encouraging and cultivating your child's dreams and goals as best as we can.

Our junior teams, aged under eight to under fifteen, serve as a development side. These teams’ purpose is to develop younger players' basic footy skills, knowledge, and ability to work in a team.

The main skill our footy club begins teaching our under 8's players from the moment they pick up a football is teamwork.

Teamwork is one of the most important skills in football at any level, and is a skill that young players can take off the footy oval and use in other aspects of their lives.

Developing this vital skill and others early in a player's career can result in the player having successful skills in:

  • Social interactions

  • Working with others

  • Caring for others

  • Communication

  • Enhancing their football career

We understand that football teaches you not just a set of skills for on the football field, but helps develop skills needed in day to day life and translates to the real world. This is one aspect we aim to achieve with our juniors football programs.

As players progress through the junior footy grades, our focus on their footy skills also increases. Junior players will find themselves participating in hard drills, receiving more specific feedback on their footy games, and training with more skillful players than themselves, helping them to develop.

Before moving on to senior football, players will spend the last one to two years of their junior careers honing their skills and preparing for senior football.

*Additional junior teams will be added if enough numbers and interest is shown

Players who have continued to progress through the Seaton Ramblers junior footy program will end their junior careers once they have developed their footy skills, confidence, and knowledge to a competent level. Based on these players' individual abilities, it is then up to parents, coaches, and the Seaton Ramblers senior footy committee to decide which senior footy grade players will initially be a part of.

Junior players who are ready to progress to senior footy will usually move forward to one of two senior footy grades – B grade or C grade respectively.

Both grades are designed to nurture junior players for a successful senior footy career. Players sent to C grade will have the opportunity to further develop their confidence and footy skills, whilst competing in a slower paced footy game.

Players progressing to the B grade will have the opportunity to develop their footy skills and knowledge, as well as the Seaton Ramblers senior men’s game plans. These game plans and strategic understandings will provide players with a smoother transition into A grade footy.
